Jack the Ripper’s Run Report 29th July 2019 Run 2720
Gentlemen,
Rain was threatening and a sprinkle fell as we assembled in shelter at the start in Portview Road Greenwich. The hares, Handshake and Slick were very relaxed, all under control. Down we went, over River Road, into the depths of Greenwich, Mrs Irish was driving out to bridge as we strolled past. The runners went along the bush track and rejoined us heading for Gore Creek Reserve, interesting, the walkers get to chat a lot, there’s not much talking amongst the runners. Into Wollstonecraft and a good uphill stretch to the highway and a short twat home to a welcome bucket,
The boys enjoyed the run, most were back in the hour, and there was so little rain that it didn’t count…..Lightnings record of no rain still stands
The On On
We were escorted in groups through security to the 7th floor display penthouse. Its a display for the top floor of the 50 floor Landmark building to be built at St Leonards in the next 2 years. A beautiful large apartment all furnished, complete with a temperature controlled cellar full of Grange etc. and a Steinway piano !
Can you believe the Committee organised a flash On On with a Steinway no less, and our Music Man boycotted the function! He can only play Honky Tonk pianos, with broken strings. Music claims to have run up Ayers Rock. We had a better view from the penthouse, eat your heart out Music. This boycott crime is on a par with drugs in swimming and sand-paper in cricket. There will be consequences. Fortunately management had provided a standby pianist, Mani, who soothed us with classical music, until he broke out with Waltzing Matilda and everyone joined in, to the amazement of the management.
The promotion by the organiser, Castro was all true; Robert the Chef fed us royally with a united nations menu including pulled lamb Texas style and Barbara Bush’s favourite dessert. Petko the principal of Chef In encouraged us to use his services every Monday and other days, David the CEO of the Landmark company offered 60% discounts for any sales off-the-plan on the night, almost.
This event was a first for the hash, your committee is setting a standard they have no intention of living upto.
