Run 2316 – 14th Nov 2011

WERE WE LEFT IN THE LURCH AT TURRAMURRA ?

It seems to have been a question of Hare to Day – Gone To-morrow, which was a great pity because it was a well thought out Run in Bush Country in the best of Hashing Traditions.

The weather was always going to be a bit dicey, and with the OnOn in open country at the end of Warrimoo, The President, Absolutely Last Chance Louis felt he had to make an executive decision. He issued a proclamation as follows, “ The OnOn will be held on Site, however if it rains in the evening, I will contact the St Ives Steak House in the afternoon and we will move the OnOn to there !”

Now that is what I call leadership.

In another impressive performance, Run-A-Muck stepped forward to take control of the Run and More. After having set the Run with Lurch the previous day, R-A-M then became the Trail Master and in addition kept the Pack together so he could get back in time to administer the Bucket. Equally meritorious was the announcement that Our Very Own XXXX had been awarded the VRA Medal for conduct above the call of duty. What a special honour that is for an unsung hero of the Bush.

Of course you can never please everyone. Petit Merde came back in daylight complaining that he had dry feet because of the absence of waterfalls, rivers, streams or sodden running tracks. He was complaining that he had nothing to complain about. Even worse, his ventriloquist and Mentor, Gone Slow turned up with a Family Substitute.

The Crook Chook put in welcomed if brief appearance, when we all thought he was in retirement. Which he is at the planning level.

It was also good to see a return of The Gremlin, very tastefully attired in his red shirt. He tell us that No Good Boyo should be back next week once he has finished treading the grapes at the Monastery or whatever else he gets up in the crypt of an evening.
