Run 2292 – 30th May 2011

Cosily warm and mellow Manly Men immerse 50 pitiful Posh Men where Moochers fear to appear…

Google Earth : Run 2292

After 3 hours of slogging, slopping and sliding through the wind, rain and slush by the determined hares Payling, Smackers and Chastity Belt in setting the trail, most of it was washed away by the worst weather in a decade. The run started at the Manly 16ft Skiff Club, with only 14 miserable participants starting out on a miserable night. Even the Manly Moochers failed to appear. TM Grape turned up with a sore back so Little Shit did a good job as acting TM.
The trail headed predictably up the hill toward North Head via Little Manly Cove. Witches Tit, Son of Payling and Your Choice were confused by a series of check backs. They finally rejoined the pack, where by this time Little Shit had become a Live Hare as the trail was washed out. Finally the Runners took to the boardwalk while the Pres. Khyber advised the Walkers to take to the high ground. The trail then travelled down to Shelley Beach and along South Steyne, before turning left into the back streets toward Manly Oval – except for SuperGlue who ran to Queenscliff, onto Pittwater Road, then via Bathurst and Fairlight, finally arriving at the bucket as it was almost packing up. The run was 7.7km, but Super ran 59km, saying this was nothing compared to his swims from Manly to Queensland and back. The small pack actually claimed to have enjoyed the run, even though a few landed on their arses in the slop.
The Bucket for the small lonely group was held in a convenient telephone box. A passing police cruiser looked askance at two filthy old farts huddling in the phone box surrounded with boxes of beer strewn over the footpath, but decided it was too wet and miserable to investigate.
The On On gourmet food was great for the 19 who attended. The Skiff Club was a bit pissed off with the numbers, but that’s tough. Down Downs for the 3 Hares, Yakkity had one for his birthday, while TicToc told a fantastic joke. Pity he could not have saved it for a future larger audience.
