Run 2414 – 8th Oct 2013

Who the #% lives in Gladesville? – IlL Bolognese does!

Why would ya support a Thirsty Joint Run?
a) Because they and other Hash groups support ours?
b) Because it provides another opportunity to mix, meet and otherwise keep in touch with other Hashers of both genders?
c) Because they just might set a trail that is different, even superior, to the ones that our incestuous group is so used to after all these years?
Why would ya support an opposition Run over the same trail as run every Friday night with no ONON, and not on the Monday, but on the same Tuesday?
Not quite sure of FRENCHIE’s French but agree with his thought: “wot a f’n waste”

The POSH has had some fine runs from this location. We usually see this Gladesville locale in darkness but being season’s first Summer Run meant we could go ‘torchless’ at last.

The architecture in Hunter’s Hill or Balmain would certainly be preferred and we didn’t touch on the many trails or water views of Lane Cove Park. A missed opportunity really which also resulted in a very short Walker’s course.
Still, it’s not the hills and dales, trails and views that attract us to this site – it’s the food!
Those who can’t carbo-load the night before a Run come here to make up for it, because it doesn’t stop ‘til we drop.

It was a well balanced mix of Thirstyites; Larrikins, Harriettes; NB’s and Posh (about fifteen ) that set out from the familiar Ill Bolognese car park in Gladesville.

Less than 1K out, LIGHTNING decided to test a questionable On-Back. Three-hundred meters later as he heard our cries, he found the Trail (part of a great loop) meaning he was either well in front or at the very back of the pack. LIGHTNING chose correctly and fought his
way through the ‘chatterers’ on a well constructed metal boardwalk through the wetlands of the Field of Mars to eventually join up with PLUNGER, SCOTSMAN, Out of the scrub we meandered through North Ryde and then headed on down the verge of a weaving narrow section of Pittwater Road that kept everyone wide awake. An attractive
Marshall then purposely directed us off onto a False Trail, then back onto the pavement that went up a long, very long hill to …Home and thankfully a quite simple Circle where ‘Never Miss a Down-Down’ DARWIN, was the POSH rep to join GM’s from the other groups.

Pres MUSIC MAN had been Tuesday sailing and missed the Run but, like LAUNDROMAT, still showed up to join other Panamanians YACKITY, CP, CV, AND JJ for the Ill Bolognese tucker. No speeches or announcements at the restaurant but ceremoniously closed by another smash hit joke from PEE DUB
