Run No. 2577 – 14 November 2016

repeat until unclogged

With a run in the heart of Posh country it bode well for a good turnout however with the threat of rain and the possibility of getting wet shoes the more timid decided to give the run a miss. Or was it that they afraid that the rise of the Super Moon would bring out the werewolves and vampires so they stayed home and locked the doors. It was therefore the die hards who turned up and provided a reasonably sized pack for the Trailmasters run.

Now the warmer weather is here the pre run warm up appears to have been dispensed with leaving only to the athaloids to pout and preen themselves pre run.

With the rain moving away the pack now relieved that they wouldn’t get wet strolled off with the usual runners leading the way down the slope to Mars Creek and the first runners/walkers divide. This as usual was greatly appreciated by the front runners as it turned out to be a loop which put them behind the walkers requiring them to weave their way through them to the accompaniment of the usual complementary remarks before they could get running again. With the real walkers/runners split occurring shortly after this the runners were free to run like the wind or perhaps pass wind to their hearts content.

Now free of the hoi polloi the front runners stretched out following the trail along Mars Creek track with Benny the Swede, recovering day by day from his recent injuries, leading the way. This was fortunate for the following runners because he checked the false trail whilst the rest pressed on led by a happy White Shit who for once hit the front.

Crossing the upper reaches of the Lane Cove River the trail turned north to follow the river. With opportunity to stretch out the faster runners led by Flying Scotsman picked up the pace and left Goon Show and Changi to bring up the rear. Little did they care because the next check turned the group inside out with Flying Scotsman now bringing up the rear.

Skirting below the houses of West Pymble the trail made its way towards The Comenarra Parkway and crossed the creek to take the uphill climb to Kangaroo Point which strung out the group again. Following the well worn and familiar track the trail skirted below the houses of South Turramurra back to the Lane Cove River where the runners caught and passed (just) the front markers of the walkers.

Finally turning for home the false trail up the concrete path on the other side of the river slowed the front runners enabling the slower runners to catch sight of Cinderella picking up trail on the track to Busaco Road.

The home trail now followed the usual route along the fence line of Macquarie University playing fields however there had been some changes made since the last run here. The hole in the fence which had been there for eons was now little more than a slot which even the likes of the lithe members ie. Saltpeter or Kitty Litter found difficult to get through. A fact that became evident at the bucket when the tall, less mobile and fat bastards appeared sporting torn clothing and numerous scratches. The hare’s wife will now be busy on the sewing machine making repairs since none of them will want to throw a perfectly good hash shirt away and break up the set.

It was an enjoyable run in an area well hashed and perfectly adequate for capabilities of current members. The front runners got in and around 80 minutes with the rest drifting in over the next 10 or so minutes.

The promised Super moon was spied momentarily through the cloud cover giving everybody a warm fuzzy feeling and something to tell the grandchildren about and there wasn’t a vampire or werewolf to be seen.

The trailer was given a rest this week so the On On was held at The Ranch on Epping Road where a hearty senior’s meal could be had for an exchange of a small sum of money and the promise not to take home the cutlery.2577-img_1246

Down down’s were given to the hare and the prick of the week S Bends for some misdemeanour or other.

Humour was provided by S Bends, B777, Pee Dub and of course the irrepressible Tic Toc.

A flight is on its way to Sydney when a blonde in economy class gets up, and moves to the first class section and sits down

The flight attendant watches her do this, and asks to see her ticket.

She then tells the blonde that she paid for economy class, and that she will have to sit in the back.

The blonde replies, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, I’m going to Sydney and I’m staying right here”.

The flight attendant goes into the cockpit and tells the pilot and the co-pilot that there is a blonde bimbo sitting in first class, that belongs in economy, and won’t move back to her seat.

The co-pilot goes back to the blonde and tries to explain that because she only paid for economy she will have to leave and return to her seat.

The blonde replies, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, I’m going to Sydney and I’m staying right here”.

The co-pilot tells the pilot that he probably should have the police waiting when they land to arrest this blonde woman who won’t listen to reason.

The pilot says, “You say she is a blonde? I’ll handle this, I’m married to a blonde. I speak blonde”.

He goes back to the blonde and whispers in her ear, and she says, “Oh, I’m sorry” and gets up and goes back to her seat in economy.

The flight attendant and co-pilot are amazed and asked him what he said to make her move without any fuss.

I told her, “First class isn’t going to Sydney “
