Calici and Yakitty at St Ives

In the gathering gloom Calici and Yackity discovered at the last minute that the North Shore Wanderers had also decided that Acron Oval was a good starting point for their run, and had laid arrows all over our route. Our intrepid hares then attempted to cancel the Wanderer’s arrows but only half did the job. The Wanderers asked to tag along with us, but then decided to follow their own trail. Result was that there were arrows pointing in all directions with checks and check-backs confusing everyone. To add to the debacle the rains came and washed out many markings soothe Posh were found running in circles, and arriving back at the bucket from all directions.
It was great bush country, with creek crossings, steep tracks and fire trails, and unfortunate that all the good work by the hares had been somewhat sabotaged. Both the Trail master and stand-in TM Changi were absent, so your scribe can contribute very little personality news as he was walking on his own most of the way as he was totally lost, following arrows which pointed both ways at once!
The On On however was a success with a multi-course dinner, assisted by Tic Toc’s contribution of a never ending supply of prawns. He made serious threats to Woolworths that all Hash members would boycott their stores unless they came good with a barrow load of prawns – to save his good name after destroying his credibility at Christmas with the non supply of turkeys. They were supplemented with monster size hamburgers and salad, fruit salad and icecream with cream to follow. Down Downs included Super and Jungle paying penance for their previous week’s criticism of the TM, plus numerous other misdemeanours including Carefree’s misdirected betting plunge on the Qld Reds, and some others I forget.
