Run 2329 – 20th Feb 2012

.THERE WAS BLOOD ON THE TRACKS AT TURRAMURRA ON MONDAY NIGHT

The main topic of conversation, during and long after the Run had finished was “How Many Leeches, did you score ?”, where the Run went and how good it was, seem to faded into the far distance.

Oh, and the Rain is back ! Despite Fryer-a-Duck complaining bitterly in Gaelic, “Wot thee Fook”, to the Bagpipe Bag Banger, he was told that Sassenach Silverside Servers were not covered by the Highland Haggis Pluvial Insurance. So Pilko is to blame. More about him later.

Putting the Leeches aside, both sides, Naughty Lust and The Crook Chook did an excellent job in finding comparatively new territory in a local well-worn area. Laying a good trail in trying conditions. With plenty of wet spots to choose from, they managed to find a few new streams and a waterfall to test the Runners, with Absolutely Last Chance leading and “bleeding” the Pack.

The Walkers taking it at a leisurely pace, found themselves ambushed by the Leeches lurking in the high grass. Proceeding progressively more slowly as the Walk continued, they were fighting off the leeches all the way back to the OnOn. General de Gaulle, who obviously has a more sensitive skin(and nature), discovered his unwelcomed passengers long before reaching salt and safety and stopped periodically to pick the blighters off.

And so it was on to the OnOn, with a pause to salt the lower limbs, although Caliph Ci complained of hangers-on around the nether regions. It could simply be a social problem of one kind or another too delicate to mention. No one came forward to check for him. Undoubtedly the best story of the lot was Petit Merde who thought he had scored an albino leech on his face, until he found it was a bread crumb left over from a delicious bruschetta.

One who free of the pesky little blighters was The Flying Scotsman in his Sooper-Dooper Snake Proof AND Leech Proof Hiking Boots. It is believed he intends to market them under the brand theme, “Nothing Up Ye Kilt or in Ye Boots”. With Five more Summer Runs and the Highland Haggis Pluvial Insurance unlikely to hold off the rain, Jock the Sock took the precaution of nipping over to the NZ to get a blood top-up and a full body Australian Leech prevention spray.

Just to change the subject, Dry Ice showed up from Opp-North, escaping from someone or something or both that he didn’t reveal. And spare a thought for poor old Penile Dementia. He missed out on all the fun with the Leeches and had to settle for a Burst Appendix instead. The President thoughtfully sent him a bag of salt anyway. Cinders reports that he is making good progress.

A DELICIOUS CAKE TO CELEBRATE PILKO’S FAULTY YEARS

The OnOn was a momentous affair. A Four Course Meal no less, put on by Pilko, and reported by The Salad Supremo, Pee Dub.

“Monday Night’s repast was cooked by the World Famous, no not one of those TV Wankers but our own Pilko. Starting with a Bruschetta to get the taste buds flowing, next came the cold Spanish soup to match the Summer temperature no doubt. The piece de resistance was the Silver Side just cooked to perfection. Complete with mashed potato blended with secret herbs and spices, carrots with wild honey from the West Australian forests and minted peas, and finally a wonderful white sauce to compliment the Silver Side. The Crock Chook chimed in with a superb carrot cake with a special greek yoghurt, to leave a super sweet and sour taste to tantalise the taste buds.”

And just to end the night, well almost, was the ever Missing Link.

The President astutely summed up the situation, “when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be XXXX”

And just to repeat the recent presidential exhortations.

1) There are a couple of Ferry tickets going begging. Pilko has double booked next Sunday and would dearly love to pass his ferry tickets on to someone else. Please contact him direct if interested. Email “Paul PILKINGTON”

2) Re the weekend away, May 5th, Maximus Minimus advises ” 50 Hashmen have booked already, there are only a few rooms left in our Bulk Reservation, so if you don’t want to miss out you should contact the Monte Pio ASAP. Once you have booked please let me know
ON ON. Maximus M”

3) LCL has Google-Earth maps of recent runs, but does not want to clutter up everybody’s in-box. Email him if you want a copy.

4) Music Man requests that next Monday everyone wears a white T-shirt (no pink carnation necessary). This is to honour James Dean who always wore white and died on Music’s birthday.
