There is a Super run of Your Choice in those Terry Hills
Super, not daunted by the washout on October 13th, was keen to finally to show off his previous good reconnaissance work in Garrigal National Park. Regrettably he was unable to enjoy the fruits of his labour and was winging his way to Adelaide that morning following the Hares Friday setting. It was left to Co-hare, Your Choice, to complete the remainder of Run as The Christmas Gods had been very kind over the last week with no rainfall at all although there were some nervous moments as some storm cells approached Sydney.
With the promise of great running territory, mouth-watering Chrissy food and entertainment from the Posh Hash players there was a solid turnout of over 70 starters from the Posh, Harriettes , Northern Beaches H3 and guests from the Wessex H3. There were even a few moochers, now past their prime level of athleticism, including Bunny Trapper, San Francisco and JTR even posing for a team photo for the memories.

Wally Grout, hearing that E Shit had reinforcements through the courtesy of Big Jimmy, was a missing in Action down at his Manly Man cave. It was really good to see that Philthy was able to venture forth and join in the Christmas spirit and celebrations with Hell Raiser and the other Harriettes including Anna, Francis and together with the posh progeny including Sam, son of Calici and Jungle Jim Junior, Duncan from Coffs Harbour. Bumcrack was released from his recuperation bed and made a special effort to see the boys and join the Posh in its annual Christmas bash
SBends was waxing lyrical about the big wave he caught (in his mind) at the Hawaii Masters and the unsaid happenings at the Honolulu Hash House Harriers last week. The committee had been feverishly putting the finer touches on the venue with all manner of decorations complete with Christmas lights and red tablecloths with music by Music Man to set the scene for the evening – what a caring sharing committee!! Ayatollah was on salad duty all day supported by Grape with his famous tomato salad.
Centre Point providing some structural support to Nautilus
With a Christmas cheer in the air the pack was off skirting the Pony Club oval then On Left at Kamber road just as God Knows arrived looking for directions. The runners led by Moishe, Lightning (free as the breeze with no trail master responsibilities), Little Shit, Scotsman and Jock the Sock (recently returned from the old opium centre of Hong Kong) had a good idea where the trail was going as they skirted south into the recently cleared land of another horsey guys intent on spreading his land holdings into the national park. There was a solid contingent of walkers, growing in numbers these days, who went straight ahead towards the tip, not tempted by the enticing cries of Khyber – “ Who is coming on the runners trial. Come on don’t be wimps “ – “we are not that stupid you silly prick” retorted Simmo as the walkers strode confidently ahead knowing full well that Khyber would be getting in late as usual.
Scud and Foxface had decided that the runners trail was for them as they confidently strode down the Kamber road track to the transmission tower then a steep drop down to the commencement of Deep Creek and the end of the Morgan Road fire trail.

Walkers led by Peedub, Pheasant Plucker, San Francisco, Centre Point and Simmo striding down Kamber Road.
As the walkers headed towards the tip, the running pack including Goonshow, Kitty Litter, Grape Ape, Jungle Jim, Calici Virus and Nautilus had found the home trail at the valley floor and were ascending up the old beautiful mountain bike trail towards the tip. However rather than continuing onwards and upwards ,the hares had hatched a cunning plan by taking firstly uphill the winding track then having spent the energy then sent the unsuspecting pack down to the bowels of the tip.
Even retired trail master Lightning and Spud were fooled as once down into the tip a virgin trail was found sending Nautilus, Foxface, Jock the Sock and Goanna up a grinding incline only then to descend once again to the start of the Manly- Warringah Field Archery field founded in 1953. The walkers trail also eventually joined up with the Runners trail at the archery field as Hanoi Bill, with his local aboriginal walking stick cum weapon, found a sign signifying that there was danger in “them thar hills” from any over enthusiastic archer using him for target practice – he flashes back to a younger lad and remembers that famous scene from Deliverance – that is enough for Hanoi as he speed off to home.

Most of the walkers were now back as were the runners as out on the main trail the sun was well and truly setting as Khyber finally found the Home trail and then On On to the bucket as Santa’s Little Helpers, Nautilus, Lightning, Centre Point, Peedub and the 2x Shits were dishing some great Chrissy tucker to the waiting hordes.

The mob of 70+hashers was enjoying the gastronomic delight topped off by wonderfully sourced plum pud and brandy custard. The Down Downs were then taken by the Hare, represented by Your Choice, the visitors from Wessex H3 (Bag Puss and Nutcraker)
and Francis, Robyn and Hell Raiser for Peedub’s guessing competition.
Then with a Peedub Command Performance it was the turn of the Red and Black attired Santas, The Bottle Lobotomies and Yuletide Musical Maestros (a Franchise from Denmark’s Bottle Boys) with organ accompaniment by Music Man.
To fully capture the Christmas spirit, there were many bottle blowing renditions from the famous group followed by a memorable sing- along of the old Christmas favourites complete with provided lyric sheets. Ending on that note PeeDub and his committee wish you all a merry Christmas and see you at Last Card Louie’s run in Turramurra on the 29th
