Run No. 2570 September 26 2016

Was this run a lay down misere or was our hand just a little shitty?

Car parks in Gordon abound but none seemed suitable for the start of this run. The nominated car park was restricted parking so most of the pack upped stumps and moved to the Woollies car park or the Council staff car park or the street or who knows where.

LCL our blow in Hare announced a runners trail (but too long to walk), a walkers trail and a short walkers trail – fair enough. Virgin territory was mentioned somewhere – but Gordon?

So off west our 40+ pack headed towards the unit jungle of McIntyre St and the first check – then it was off up the Hwy. Left down Ryde Rd passed the old 3M and Ikea buildings (remember them) – a couple of falsies and into the bush via a not too easy to find track. Not a part of the world this reporter frequents and the root ridden track slowed everybody down(that was the bit about busted ankles). One falsie in this jungle and the walkers leap-frogged the runners. The trail petered out in a large clearing behind the houses in Orinoco St and even a dead cockatoo purporting to be a dollop of flour was no indication of  trail as the whole pack bunched up. Then out of the blue Scud was befriended by the local dog-walker, cum stalker, cum paedophile who took him in hand and directed the pack out of the wilderness and back to the Hwy. At this point the majority of walkers called a right turn towards home as trail, and disappeared towards the Bucket. After all we had been out for over half an hour. The Stalwarts including our new leader headed up the Hwy, down Livingston and still heading away from home 40 mins in, the trail looped under Pymble Station where it split. The walkers had a “straight home” down Grandview St and the Hwy to Home, whilst the runners, who by now had only completed 2/5ths of the trail, picked up a wayward Goanna, and headed off for a great loop into South Western-ish bit of St Ives – you know the slum area of Pymble – Alma St and Telegraph Rd. Crossing back over Ring Rd 3 and into the stunning Gordon Valley the runners slogged it out along Kulgoa Rd and Charlotte Ave before turning towards Gordon Shops and Home.

Shorts walkers Home in an instant, Long Walkers Home in just the right time and the Runners about 10 mins later.

Looks like Payling was the first old committee man to suffer from PTCS but his fellow members looked like they were struggling along.

New Committee man Moishe was heard to call this the Run of the Year – he does get a little ahead of himself.

The On On was the Gordon Thai. As a previous user of this fine establishment I can vouch that their modus operandi hasn’t changed. Let us sit around for an hour drinking our own booze then bombard us with food. It ain’t bad and from memory they do the right thing price wise.

The new elected President You Choice took the floor and promptly handed out little piccies of Plunger so that we could all up date our Yearbooks. He’s the new TM for those still a little lost. The Pres neglected to say that in order to save ink (money) the previous Committee had omitted his “mug-shot and specs” from the last Yearbook. Another pic and words to come? Downs went to Little Shit as co-hare and also as piccie printer (Hare LCL had absconded for a better offer) and Slick’s virgin mate who’s name I missed.

With Tic Toc and Pee Dub away the jokes were left to Wombat who told one about a Mosque in Mosman – just to get up the nose of the good burgher Mosmania and defender of the realm Goon Show.
