Run No. 2587 – 23rd January 2017

The other end of Quarter Sessions Rd

Why, why, why do we have to go to the far reaches of our metropolis on a stinking hot day? Probably because co-hare Salt Petre has so little meat on him that he near freezes to death in anything like pleasant temperatures. So a goodly bunch of idiots left the beautiful sea breezes of the coast to rally at the other end of Quarter Sessions Rd which was amazing considering the gobbledygook Google Earth maps Changi had provided giving the best way to find Oakleigh Park.

The trail consisted of a big loop thru the southern end of Berowra Valley Regional Park, with the walkers having the benefit of a shortcut. The pack had become very strung out by the time we reached the first part of the Great Nth Walk and the split. Lightning, late again, caught up here. If he keeps this lateness caper up he’ll have to bring a note from his mother.
Eventually the two trails converged again, and by a strange twist of fate, Lost Patrol was front running. We then plunged into a dim gorge with its channels of coolness and its echo’s a-calling and finally a creek falling – a beautiful track up the Zigzag where the unseeded Major Disaster and Pedantic out-paced the highly ranked Copraphelia and Pilko.
An enjoyable bucket with nibblies thanks to Moishe – he’s still trying to off-load those bum-puckering pickled onions.

Then the thousand questions on how to get to the On On venue which 99% of us had been to 7 weeks ago. I guess the confusion was gunna happen given the Changi Pilotage instructions.
The Thornleigh Taj Mahal Bombay Palace Indian Restaurant again did themselves proud with a great spread, although I think Changi – he of no taste buds – had a part in deciding the menu as the dishes definitely had more heat than our last visit. Goanna, always on the make, tried to get dessert thrown in on the basis we would come back every week – yeah?
Apart from the Hares there was only one down tonight – XXXX. Seems the reason for his long absence was a broken left tit – and we all thought it was his ever so dodgey knees.
The Jokesters had a field day tonight with Pee Dub and Tic Toc going a couple of rounds each and Major Disaster interjecting with some ancient recollection. Goon Show is still trying to get the Trump joke.

If you can’t tell in advance that you’ve seen a joke, TT, I suggest you get new glasses.
But……… that wonderful joke which reappeared today showing a hanged man (NB not HUNG) and his wife reading his suicide note, “And you’ve misspelled constant criticism”, does raise the critical point as to whether she should have read out the misspelling not corrected it in her speech!
    We critics love a debate
